• Additional Treatments

If your teeth are stained, chipped, or you have signs of gum disease, you may need treatment before having your Invisalign braces fitted. Teeth whitening treatment, fillings, and scaling and planing procedures incur an extra cost which increases the overall price of your Invisalign clear braces.

Does Medicare Cover Orthodontic Treatment?

Medicare does not generally cover orthodontic treatment, such as clear braces. However, you may be eligible for coverage if your clear braces are deemed medically necessary to prevent health problems. 

Children eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) can receive $1,000 to go towards dental treatment over two consecutive years. This payment is generally not paid towards orthodontic treatment. 

Can I Use Private Health Insurance to Cover the Clear Braces Cost?

Basic private health care often does not include coverage for dental work. If you have Extras Cover, your insurance provider may pay for the clear braces cost under your Major Dental policy. 

It is essential to check your policy and call your health care provider before scheduling a fitting for clear braces to ensure that you have the right level of coverage. Should you wish to increase your coverage, you should be aware that many insurance companies have a mandatory waiting period during which you cannot make a claim.
